N.B. This is a university assignment- these events are purely for illustrative purposes and will not actually take place.
November 7 2009 – Die-in at NSW Parliament House
Come along to the front steps of the NSW Parliament House at 10am dressed as a whale, dolphin, turtle or other animal threatened by shark nets. We’ll congregate and then stage a mass death. Bring your own blood sachets. It’ll be sure to gain some media attention!
November 28 2009 –Talk by Ian Cohen MP at Maroubra Junction Community Centre
NSW Greens MP Ian Cohen joins us to discuss the issues surrounding the use of shark nets, from the angle of an environmentalist and a keen surfer. He’ll participate in an open forum at the conclusion of his speech to allow for community involvement. We’d love to see you at the centre at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
December 19 2009- Beach party at Bondi with special guest Mick Fanning
Come and enjoy the sun whilst supporting a good cause. We’ll be running a fundraising barbeque and a raffle. Mick Fanning, pro surfer, will be there to lend his name to the campaign, and give a brief outline of the surfers’ position on shark nets. 12 midday.
